Cider Making in Gloucestershire – from Foxwhelps to Firkins!
Description: Cider and its production is woven into Gloucestershire’s rich history, shaping the landscape around us and influencing customs and traditions such as wassailing. From its use as a means of payment for agricultural labourers, to the cider riots of the 1760s, to the recent growth of small, artisan producers, it continues to play an important role in the life of the county. This is a celebration of the drink that Laurie Lee famously once described as ‘wine of wild orchards and of russet summers.’
