Heraldic Banner Trail

The Tewkesbury Heraldic Banner Trail turns a walk through town into a giant medieval treasure hunt for kids. Armed with a trail map from the Visitor Information Centre, children set off through the streets to hunt down over a hundred brightly colored banners hanging high above the shopfronts and historic buildings. Each banner features a real medieval coat of arms from a knight who fought in the 1471 Battle of Tewkesbury.

As they explore, kids search for specific beasts, lions, and symbols on the flags to answer clues, match knights to their history, and solve the trail's puzzles. It’s an engaging, screen-free way to keep young minds active, turning a stroll past Tewkesbury’s timber-framed buildings into a fun history adventure that takes under an hour to complete—with plenty of spots along the way to stop for a well-earned ice cream.
