Tewkesbury Mop Fair

Tewkesbury Mop Fair is one of the oldest and largest street fairs in the West of England, held annually on the 9th and 10th of October. Originating as a medieval hiring or statute fair following the 14th-century Statute of Labourers—where agricultural workers carried symbols of their trade, such as mops or fleeces, to secure annual employment—the fair has evolved into a vibrant, high-energy festival. Today, it takes over the historic town centre, filling its medieval streets and timber-framed backdrop with a bustling mix of classic fairground carousels, modern thrill rides, game stalls, and traditional street food.
