With Mother’s Day approaching on Sunday, 15 March 2026, Tewkesbury Borough is inviting families to swap the standard box of chocolates and flowers for something more lasting, a day of memories.  Our attractions have risen to the occasion and have curated a weekend designed to celebrate mothers and wow families across the borough.

The Royal Treatment at Sudeley Castle and Gardens

Sudeley Castle’s full visitor season resumes on Saturday 14th March 2026, when the castle and gardens reopen for daytime exploration. The historic site in Winchcombe is celebrating Mother’s Day Weekend by inviting mums to enjoy a blossom-filled stroll through the reawakening award-winning gardens, which will be alive with magnolia, early tulips and drifts of daffodils. You can also hear an inspiring talk about the ultimate mother-figure, Queen Katherine Parr, in the Chapel.

On Mothering Sunday itself, all mums visiting the Shepherd’s Hut Tea Room will receive a complimentary cupcake as well as a posy of daffodils to take home.

Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Steam Railway

For a journey through time, the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway (GWSR) offers a scenic escape through the heart of the Cotswolds. Departing from Toddington or Winchcombe, families can board restored carriages for a round-trip to Cheltenham Racecourse or Broadway. This is a wonderful relaxing experience, allowing visitors to sit back and watch the spring landscape unfold through a vintage carriage window.

For an indulgent afternoon, Tewkesbury Park and Hilton Puckrup Hall are offering elegant Afternoon Teas featuring locally sourced clotted cream and handmade patisserie. Meanwhile, the historic Bell Hotel, overlooking the Abbey, is serving a traditional three-course Mothering Sunday roast.

The Lion Inn in Winchcombe is offering its delicious Mothering Sunday Set Menu, perfect for those looking for a cosy, pub atmosphere after a walk round the town or along the Cotswold Way.

The Royal Oak in Bishops Cleeve is focusing on family-friendly celebrations with a special Moments for Mum dining package available on Saturday, 14 and Sunday, 15 March.

Treating Mum to a little peace and pampering is easy in this corner of Gloucestershire, where welcoming spas offering gentle, feel‑good experiences perfect for a spring celebration.

Local crafts – with a lot of love

The Greenway hotel and spa in Shurdington, is teaming up with Cheltenham Flower School to host a hands-on creative floral workshop that blends sustainable techniques and springtime style. This exclusive 90-minute session is followed by afternoon tea.

In Bishops Cleeve, early birds can even join a Mother’s Day Craft Session at the Football Club in the lead-up to the big day to create handmade keepsakes – a great opportunity to mix a little love and a lot of ‘Mum I made this!’
